TL;DR

Need: an iPhone or iPad, a small HDMI or AirPlay projector, EasyMapper Studio, and optionally a sheer curtain for a rear-projection ghost. Time: about 10 minutes for the first window. Halloween loops come built in.

Halloween window projection app EasyMapper Studio fits ghostly figures, flickering candlelight and watching eyes exactly inside each window frame — mapped from an iPhone or iPad, with no laptop. Light that stops precisely at the frame reads as something happening inside the house, which is what makes window projection the highest-impact Halloween effect per watt.

The app now ships with built-in Halloween loops, so a freshly installed copy can haunt a window the same night.

How it works in three steps

  1. Set the projector where it can see the window. Indoors pointing out through a sheer curtain works brilliantly and keeps everything dry; outdoors on a tripod works too.
  2. Add a layer per window in EasyMapper Studio and drag its corners onto the real frame. Each window is its own layer, so each can be haunted differently.
  3. Drop a loop on each layer and press play. A drifting ghost in one window, a candle flicker in another, eyes that open in a third.
02

The rear-projection trick

Hang a sheer white curtain or rear-projection film inside the glass and project from inside the room. The figure appears to float in the window, the projector stays weatherproof, and passers-by can't see the beam source. This is the classic "ghost in the window" setup, and mapping the layer to the frame is what keeps the illusion tight.

What you need

A single window needs far less brightness than a facade — even a small 500–1,000 lumen projector reads well after dark. Any model with HDMI or AirPlay works; see how to pick a projector and how to connect your phone.
